19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

The opponent saved four initial opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
